Use this chart to help your child identify how they are feeling. I explain to the students that it is alright to feel different emotions. It's important, though, for your child to be able to learn their "feeling words" as part of their everyday language development, be able to express what they are feeling and why. Students being conscientious of the way they feel may help school personnel (the nurse, guidance counselor, teachers, administration, and other faculty/staff) be able to take the necessary steps to help the student.

A kindergarten guidance lesson during the first part of the school year is dedicated to understanding our emotions and what to do with all these emotions if we feel them in and out of school. The literature that goes along with this lesson is a book called "The Way I Feel".
